Bob Murphy, 86, of Burlington, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born April 5, 1937, in Burlington, he was the son of Kenneth H. and Jeanette Kiersey Murphy. On Nov. 21, 1964, he married Judith Rhodes.
Bob proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1962.
Bob was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Burlington. He enjoyed roller skating, where he met the love of his life. Bob always made a point to attend as many of his children’s and grandchildren’s musical and sporting events as possible. It was well known that his children and his grandchildren were everything to him. In addition to spending time with friends and family, you could find Bob farming or admiring a few Allis Chalmers tractors.
Survivors include his wife, Judith; children, Derrick Murphy of Burlington, Craig (Esther) Murphy of Burlington, and Robin (Daniel) Adami of Ariz.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Dennis Murphy of Burlington and Jennifer Murphy of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mike and Albert.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation with the family to receive friends will be 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at Grace United Methodist Church.
The Memorial Service for Mr. Murphy will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023 at Grace United Methodist Church, Burlington with Pastor Tamara Wirt officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
