Robert William Cameron, 88, of Burlington, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, at the Addington Place in Burlington.
Born May 19, 1934, in Davis County, he was the son of Kenneth William and Bertha Burkhalter Cameron. On May 10, 1957, he married Betty Stoneking. She died May 28, 2012. On October 5, 2014, he married Barbara J. Balbinot-Reitz at First United Methodist Church.
He was a 1951 graduate of Bloomfield High School and received his bachelor of arts degree from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI), then his Master's in education from Western Illinois University.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1957 to 1961.
Bob worked for the Burlington Community School District, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, RSVP, DMCRSP, Hawkeye Stamp Club, Iowa Postal History Societies, Iowa Retired School Personnel, and NEA. Bob was inducted into the Burlington Community School District Hall of Honor in 2008. He enjoyed stamp collecting and baseball.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Cameron; two sons, Michael Allen (Kathy) Cameron and Mark William Cameron both of Burlington; one daughter, Kristina Lynn (Jeremiah) Bergstrom of Brookings, S.D.; one son-in-law, Dan Grimes of Midwest City, Okla., 12 grandchildren, Melissa (Shawn) McEntyre, Elizabeth Grimes, Casey Grimes, Ben (Shawna) Cameron, Blake (Rachel) Cameron, Derek (TJ) Weiler, Sara (Justin) Loper, Jesse Cameron, Micah Bergstrom, Abigail Bergstrom, Caleb Bergstrom, Tabitha Bergstrom; 11 great-grandchildren, Kayle Loper, Haley Loper, Austin Loper, Peyton Cameron, Lila Cameron, Ellie Cameron, Kinsey Cameron, Kyler Cameron, Christine Grimes, Nora McEntyre, Logan Cameron; one great-great-grandchild, Everly Leibli; one sister, Alice Huffman; one brother, David (Diane) Cruikshank, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father; one daughter; Michelle Ann; two sisters, Lavon Thomson and Cheryl Harris; one daughter-in-law, Jackie Cameron; and one grandson, John Daniel Grimes.
Visitation with the family to receive friends will be Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022 from 11 to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St.
The funeral service for Robert will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St. with Rev. Melanie Greengo officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at First United Methodist Church following the burial.
A memorial has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.
