
Sharon K. Lawson, 86, of Burlington, passed Friday morning August 7, 2026, at Oakview Nursing Home.
Born on March 7, 1940, on a farm near Fairfield, she was the daughter of Myron and Madelene Brereton Metz.
Sharon attended country school and graduated from Fairfield High School. She married L. Max Lawson on March 17, 1957, in Fairfield, Iowa.
Sharon was a homemaker and worked various jobs after her children had grown up.
Sharon was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she worked on organizing mission trips in Burlington, Florida, Arkansas, Haiti, and Illinois, following the destructive tornadoes in the early 90’s. She helped get a team together for the Burlington Paint-A-Thon and made pies for the church Bazaar.
Sharon raised a garden and enjoyed canning what she had grown. She also had a flower garden that she was very proud of, growing a variety of flowers. Sharon and Max had traveled to a total of 48 states together. Most of all, Sharon loved her family.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, L. Max Lawson of Burlington; daughter, Debra (DiAnne) Fuhrer of Worden, Montana; two sons, Lenny (Melody) Lawson of Mt. Pleasant, and Quinton (Audrey) Lawson of West Allis, Wisconsin; and three grandchildren, Madelene Lawson, Isaac Lawson, and Jacob Fuhrer.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Dorothy Little.
The family will receive friends at the Lunning Chapel Friday, August 14th from 5 pm until 7 pm.
The funeral service for Sharon K. Lawson will be 10:30 am Saturday, August 15th in the Lunning Chapel with Mr. Alan Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Grace United Methodist Church or the SUM Fund.
