Candace Taylor Collins, 50, of Burlington, lost her battle with cancer Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends.
Candace was born and raised in Monmouth, Ill.
She graduated from Western Illinois University, earning her bachelor's degree in social work.
Candace worked in social services, then later joined the staff at the Iowa State Penitentiary, in the clinical care unit as a social worker. Later she shifted her career focus to community corrections and became a probation/parole officer with the 8th Judicial District in Burlington. Candace then became a community treatment coordinator with the district and held that position until the time of her death.
Candace enjoyed time with family and friends. She enjoyed laughter, music concerts, boat rides on the Mississippi, shopping, travel, dining, and especially a good glass of wine.
Candace is survived by her husband, Bill Ell Jr. of Burlington, Iowa; mother, Cathy Collins; and sister, Emily Collins both of Monmouth, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gary E. Collins of Monmouth, Ill.
A celebration of life for Candace is planned for the spring of 2023.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, a donation may be made to the Candace T. Collins Memorial Scholarship Award in care of Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
