Joyce Hardin, 84, longtime resident of Oakville and currently of Mediapolis, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at the Azria Health Prairie Ridge in Mediapolis surrounded by her family.

Born June 8, 1939, in Louisa County, she was the daughter of Gene and Bonnie Pauline Fischer Faris. On Jan. 19, 1957, she married Ray Louis Hardin in Burlington. He died Nov. 25, 2002.

Joyce was a homemaker with various part time jobs. She loved to sew, crafting, quilting, gardening, mushroom hunting, berry picking, baking and canning. She was in bridge club for many years with her life long friends. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. She was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include her children, Mike Hardin of Wapello, Tari Heiniger of Wapello, Lori Hardin of Burlington, Gena (Tim) Heiniger of West Burlington, Joy (Forrest) Branch of Mediapolis; nine grandchildren, Megan (Scott) Spurgeon, Darcy Hardin, Kandi Heiniger Jenkins (JodyJenkins), Kristen (Bryan) Brown, Nick (Cara Rabik) Heiniger, Adam (Jillian Paris) Heiniger, Dustin Hardin, Morgan (Leelu Daigle) Branch, Logan Branch; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Janet Johnson of Burlington; many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law, Janet Walker, son-in-law, Doug Heiniger, sister, Sandra Jacoby and brother, Richard Faris.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service.

The memorial service for Mrs. Hardin will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street with Pastor Dale Frank officiating.  A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Apostolic Church in Mediapolis following the service. Burial will be in Edwards Cemetery at a later date.  

A memorial has been established for the Apostolic Christian Church in Mediapolis.
