
Richard R. Cromer, 82, of Burlington, died Saturday, July 19, 2025, at his home. Born March 28, 1943, in Macomb, Ill., he was the son of Estle Dale and Virginia Eileen Sparrow Cromer. In August 1963, he married LaNee Jean Yocum, they later divorced in 1981. In 1983, he married Roberta Wilkerson, they divorced in 1993. On July 21, 1995, he married Dorothy "Dottie" Ann Davidson in Keokuk.
Mr. Cromer was a lifelong truck driver, accumulating over three million miles, with no chargeable accidents. He retired in 2009.
He graduated from Colchester, Ill. High School in 1961.
Richard was a member of the Burlington Valley Duster Motorcycle Club, Skiowans, Teamster Local 218, Moose Lodge, and a life member of the American Motorcycle Association.
Mr. Cromer enjoyed racing dirt bikes, snow skiing and playing golf. His "claim to fame" was winning first overall in seasonal points in both enduros and hare scrambles in the state of Iowa in 1978. Richard enjoyed watching SCC basketball, WB Notre Dame track meets and motorcycle racing on TV.
Survivors include wife, Dottie Cromer of Burlington; one son, David (Theresa) Cromer of West Burlington; one daughter, Kellie (Jeff) Sloan of Mount Pleasant; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two step-daughters, Karla Saar of Cedar Rapids and Debra (Brad) Bigelow of Apopka, Fla., one step-son, Tony (Sherry) Malone of Eldon; six step-grandchildren; one brother, Dale Cromer of Plymouth, Ill.; one niece; four nephews; and several step great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, one sister, and one niece.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The funeral service for Mr. Cromer will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Prugh Funeral Service, with Pastor Mike Shea officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Valley Dusters or a charity of your choice.
