Janice I. Duncan, 73, of Burlington, died Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born Aug. 18, 1950, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Fredrick William and Louise Amelia Kuntz Carter. She married Jimmy Cross and was later divorced. Janice then married William I. Duncan and they were later divorced.

Janice worked as a telephone operator in Arizona for 14 years and later retired after 12 years of work at Walmart in Burlington.

Janice will be lovingly remembered as a good listener and was always easy to talk to. She enjoyed shopping, reading, going out to eat, karaoke, and watching game shows on TV. Janice loved her children and she loved attending the Salvation Army Church.

Survivors include her four children, Jeffery (Reianna) Cross of Thayer, IA, Stacie Lynn Cross Latham (Jammie Allsup) of Keokuk, Thomas Duncan and Ryan Duncan both of Burlington; brother, Jim (Sandy) Carter of Burlington; two sisters, Anita Louise (Gary Willhelm) Lock of New Boston, Ill. Marian Settle of Fla.; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son in infancy, Ricky Lee Cross.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

A celebration of life for Janice I. Duncan has been scheduled for May 11 at 11 a.m. at the Salvation Army Church, 216 Columbus Dr., Burlington. Duncan, 73, of Burlington, died Tuesday, March 5 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
