Charles Holmes, 73, of Burlington, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, at his home.

Charles was born to Ivory Sr. and Ida Holmes on Dec. 9, 1949. He had three older siblings, Mrs. Bobbie Jean Johns, Mrs. Deloris Turner, and Ivory Holmes Jr.  His younger siblings included James Lee Holmes, Vera Holmes, Shirley Holmes, and Lula Holmes.

He grew up in Mississippi and moved to Chicago with his family in the 1960s. He made his living working at RR Donnally, Oscar Mayer, Coca-Cola, &amp; UPS. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. 

Survivors include his mother, Ida Mae Johnson; two sons, Christopher Holmes and Courtney Holmes; daughter, Kemi Holmes; one grandson, two sisters, Deloris Turner and Lula Holmes; and brother, James Holmes. He had a host of nieces and nephews including Gail, Jackie, Patrick, Rosalind, Michael, Eric, Jessie, Nicole, Byron, Steve, Britteny, Kivia, and Channa.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Vera Holmes, Bobbie Johns, and Shirley Holmes, and one brother, Ivory Holmes Jr. 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The memorial service for Mr. Charles Holmes was Saturday, December 31, 2022, &nbsp;at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Brother Tony Perez officiating.&nbsp;
