Christal Luv Young-McClendon, 49, of Burlington, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born March 25, 1974, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Leonard Young and Angela Donlan Murphy-Ashbaker.
Christal attended Burlington High School and earned her GED. She was engaged to Oakley Caskey.
Christal was an artist and loved to draw. She was very good at doing make-up and hair. Christal loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children Kenyon Jones, Anthony Caskey, and Mason Caskey all of Burlington; her mother Angela Murphy-Ashbaker of Burlington; siblings Nicole (Dontis) McClellon of Davenport and Travis Young of Burlington; Uncles Jim (Melodee) Donlan of Carman, Ill. and Mark (Colleen) Donlan of Burlington; cousins Amanda (Jason) Rankin, Audra (Arron) Valdez, James Donlan III, David (Shawna) Donlan, Tyler Donlan, Marcus Donlan and Tonya (Adam) Robertson; niece Kaley (Conner) Knapp and nephews Tony (Raven) Young, Travis Cline and Robert Young; best friends Laura, “Cat” and “Papa Soul” and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Leonard Young, grandparents James and Margaret Donlan, and fiancé Oakley.
The service for Christal will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1st at Lunning Chapel with Reverend Fred Starling officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-1pm prior to the service. Cremation will be accorded following the service.
A memorial has been established to help pay for funeral expenses.
