Floyd James Krieger, 92 of Burlington, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 20, 1932, in Burlington, he was the son of Walter and Elsie Meyer Krieger.
Floyd graduated from Sperry High School as the Valedictorian in 1950. He played basketball and baseball during high school.
On April 10, 1955 he married Vera Helen Reinecke at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Burlington.
Floyd was a lifelong farmer. His senior year he was a bus driver and had a milk route. He was the treasurer for Salem Lutheran Church and Peace Lutheran Church. He liked to go bowling, golfing and he was a sports fan, especially cheering for the Chicago Cubs! Floyd loved playing cards and dominoes with friends and family. He loved coffee.
Survivors include his four children Steven (Reta) Krieger of Burlington, Jeffrey (Linda) Krieger of Fort Myers, Florida, Linda (Bill) Risenhoover of Bucyrus, Kansas, David (Marcia) Krieger of West Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren Brian (Melissa) Krieger, Deanne (James) Lessard, Dan (Prissilla) Krieger, Jamie Risenhoover, Matthew (Parisa) Risenhoover, Laura (Ben) Lohmeier, Dennis (Jill) Krieger; 15 great grandchildren Olivia and Lauren Krieger, Jordan, Lillian, Noah, Zachary and Faith Lessard, Camila, Javier, Ximena Krieger, Cooper Risenhoover, Thomas, Lucas, Maren Lohmeier and Isaac Krieger.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Elsie Meyer Krieger and his siblings Edward, Irven, Lawrence, Ruth, Marie and Kenneth.
The visitation for Mr. Krieger will be 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 11, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church where family will receive friends. The funeral service will begin at 11am followed by a luncheon. All are invited. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Peace Lutheran Church and Salem Cemetery.
