Robinette Schubert, 96, of Burlington, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, at the RidgeView Assisted Living in Burlington.

Born March 14, 1928, in Plano, she was the daughter of Otto L. Close and Edith E. Close Coon. On April 24, 1948, she married C. Nelson Schubert in Monmouth, Ill.

Robinette worked for Sylvania before retiring from J.I. Case Co. in 1984 after working there for fifteen years.  Robinette was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.  Robinette and Nelson enjoyed living on Tama Road along the river for many years.  They enjoyed boating and found great peace watching the river roll by.  Before Robinette's eyesight regressed in her later years, she loved reading and doing crossword puzzles.  She also liked watching game shows and Lawrence Welk on T.V.  Moreover, Robinette loved her family and loved spending time with them.  Her passing leaves a sadness, but her memory will continue on through all who love her.

Robinette's family include her sister-in-law, Lois Close of Burlington, her brother-in-law, Raymond Wynn: nephews and nieces: Bryan Close (Margret) of Leawood, Kan., Cheryl Kosmann (William) of Middleburg, Vir., Melinda Averbeck (Richard) of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Gary Wynn (Dorothy) of Omaha, Neb., Marcia Bishop (Frank) of Mishawaka, Ind., Sarah Wynn of Burlington, Jonathan Wynn (JoAnn) of Des Moines, Rachel Zaliwski of Henderson, NV, and Samuel Wynn of Burlington, along with many great-nieces and nephews.  Sadly, Robinette was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Nelson; and her siblings, Doris Wynn and Don Close.

Robinette will be laid to rest next to Nelson at Aspen Grove Cemetery during a private family committal.

Please continue to keep Robinette's family in your thoughts during this difficult time.
