
Darrel Clinton Gillett, 90, of LaHarpe, Ill., passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the Rushville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Rushville, Illinois.
Darrel was born May 30, 1934, in LaHarpe, the son of Arthur and Delma Bradfield Gillett.
Darrel was a graduate of LaHarpe High School. In 1960, he moved to Tucson, Arizona, to work for Coca-Cola and the Tucson Fire Department. He returned to LaHarpe in 1969 and was employed by Champion Spark Plug in Burlington, Iowa, until his retirement. He enjoyed raising horses all of his life.
Survivors include three daughters: Janet (Michael) Boyd of Carthage, Illinois, Jill (Greg) Dunham of LaHarpe and Joan Stevenson of Hamilton, Illinois; five grandchildren: Michael (Maureen) Boyd, Jeff (Jamie) Boyd, Dana Butler, Beau (Cara) Dunham, Caleb (Terri) Long; fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and one brother: Dan (Martha) Gillett of LaHarpe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Donald and Delbert.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2025 at the LaHarpe Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Historical Society.
