Catherine "Kay" Mary Budzyn, 88, of Burlington, died Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, West Burlington, Ia.

Born October 27, 1933, in Burlington, Ia., she was the daughter of James Wollmer and Helen M. Muckenstrom Norton. On May 28, 1955, she married Edmund D. Budzyn in Burlington. He passed on December 9, 1994.

She was a 1951 graduate of Burlington High School. 

Kay was a banquet waitress at the Holiday Inn and Pzazz for 20 years. She worked for IRC-TRW for 10 years and sold Avon for 55 years.

She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish-St. John's Catholic Church, AARP, NARF, and Primetime - West Burlington First Christian Church. When Kay wasn't relaxing at home, she enjoyed going to the casino, trips to Las Vegas, going on cruises, and taking bus trips with AM Vision, the Good Neighbors Club, Circa 21 Dinner Theater, and many others. Her favorite thing was to spend time with family and have get-togethers. 

Survivors include her sons, Edmund (April) Budzyn and Joseph Budzyn, both of Burlington, and John (Jana) Budzyn of Palmyra, Mo.; daughters, Maureen (Leon) Heuvelmann, Martha (Curt) Diewold, and Mary (Todd) Larson, all of Burlington; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Janet L. Casady.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Visitation with the family to receive friends will be from 9 to 11 a.m., concluding with full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 10, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. Following military honors, inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.
