Kathryn W. Klaus, 75, of Burlington, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021 at The Madison in Fort Madison.
Born Sept. 17, 1946, in Fairfield, she was the daughter of Eryl and Edith Gingles VanDyke.
Kathryn married Tom Crossett in June 1964. They later divorced. She married David Klaus on June 25, 1995, in Denver, Colo.
She was a graduate of Columbus Junction High School in 1964 and was a graduate of Dayton School of Hair Design in Burlington. Kathryn was a self-employed cosmetologist for 10 years, retiring in 2011.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Julia Phelps of Houston, Texas, and Amanda Smith of Burlington; stepson, David Klaus of Burlington; brother, George VanDyke of Nichols; half sister, Shirley Reynolds of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
According to her wishes, Kathryn’s body has been deeded to the University of Iowa for medical research.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
