Celebration of Life for Marilyn
Saturday, Dec. 7, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Eagles Club, Burlington
Marilyn Paige, 78, of Burlington, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born April 2, 1946, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Arthur G and Thelma Anderson Swanson. On June 21, 1969, she married Robert Paige in Monmouth, IL. He died on June 9, 1983. She started dating Jerry Downer in January of 1985 and that turned into a 7 year loving relationship until his death on August 25, 1992.
She attended and graduated from Burlington High School in 1964.
Marylin worked in the offices of different truck lines for 44 years and at Doran for 20 years. She played golf when she was able to and liked playing cards. She loved the river and the 35 years she lived at Lake Stevenson.
She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ but did also attend other churches through the years.
Survivors include her brother Robert "Bob" (Linda) Swanson; Bob's only son, Kirk's wife Susan Swanson; 14 of the Paige and Massner nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Ron (Diane) Paige; sister-in-law Retha; and many great wonderful friends especially Sue Webb and Nancy Simms.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her partner, Jerry Downer, her parents and her nephew Kirk Swanson.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
There will be no visitation or services.
