Eugene A. Bauer, 77, of Danville, Iowa, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at his home.
Born on Feb. 15, 1947, in Worland, Wyo., he was the son of Theodore A. and Lily M. Elliott Bauer. On Dec. 28, 1966, in Glendive, Mont., he married Eileen F. Malmend.
Gene was of Lutheran faith. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked for several years for BNSF where he retired from. After retirement Gene enjoyed working as a Ranger for Flint Hills Golf Course. In his free time, you could find him out on the golf course doing what he loved. He also loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinal, hunting in Montana and working on cars. Most of all Gene always enjoyed seeing his grandchildren in school activities, playing in sports and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife Eileen; two children: Tracy (Alan) Johnson of Cedar Rapids and Brian (Angie) Bauer of Danville; four grandchildren: Alyssa (Tanner) Gerst of Cedar Rapids, Alexis (Trenton) Massner of Mount Pleasant, Jaden and Alivia Bauer of Danville; brother Michael Bauer of Billings, Mont. and sister Lucille Kramer of Colorado Springs, Colo. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother Chet Bauer.
Per his wishes cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at Lunning Chapel with the family meeting with friends at that time. A memorial has been established in his memory for the Danville Boosters Club.
