Delbert J. Walker, 98, of Burlington, died Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Azria Health Prairie Ridge in Mediapolis.

Born July 12, 1923, in Burlington, he was the son of Chester Lyle and Lora Clara (Loper) Walker. He married Wanda Schmicker on June 21, 1949, in Burlington. She died April 13, 2018.

Delbert served in the Army during WWII, stationed in India, as a draftsman drawing maps. He worked for many years as a salesman and repairman for Burlington Typewriter Exchange.
He was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ where he was a custodian, an usher, and did lawn care. Delbert enjoyed working with stained glass, dancing, raising roses and he loved his dogs.

Survivors include a nephew, Kevin (Diane) Vollmer; a niece, Donna Danielson; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister, Winona Vollmer.

The memorial service for Delbert will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 16th at Lunning Chapel. Pastor Peggy Stott will officiate. A private family inurnment will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

A memorial has been established for St. Luke United Church of Christ.
