Gerald "Jerry" Walter Krieger, 83, of Sperry, died Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born August 22, 1942, in Burlington, he was the son of Edward Walter and Florence Emma Lorenz Krieger. On February 3, 1962, he married Barbara E. Beckman in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dodgeville.
He was a 1960 graduate of Sperry High School.
Jerry began his career at J.I. Case. Throughout his life, he was best known as a dedicated farmer and truck driver. He worked for Umthun and Nelson Trucking before retiring from the Walmart Distribution Center in Mount Pleasant after 19 years of service. After he retired from truck driving, he fulfilled his life long dream of owning and operating a farm.
Jerry was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he served on the parish council and was actively involved in the life of his church community.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Sperry; three children, Douglas (Cynthia) Krieger of Sperry, Pamela (Andrew Giese) Rukgaber of Morning Sun, and Angela Rupe of Burlington; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Roger (Jan) Krieger of Burlington; brothers-in-law, Clifford Beckman of Burlington and Steve (Peggy) Beckman of Aldie, VA; sister-in-law, Barb Krieger of Burlington, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Neal Krieger, sister-in-law, Diana Beckman, grandson, Garrett Rupe and aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM with the family to receive friends on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Krieger will be 11:00 AM Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington with Fr. Jake Greiner as the Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dodgeville. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Mediapolis City Hall following the burial.
Memorials have been established for St. Mary's Cemetery in Dodgeville, Salem Lutheran Cemetery and Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.
