Leonard “Leo” Timberlake, 88, of Burlington, died June 30, 2023, at Danville Care Center in Danville.

Born Feb. 7, 1935, in Elizabeth, Ind., he was the son of Claude and Mildred House Timberlake.

Leo graduated from Burlington High School and served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. On Feb. 3, 1957, he married Joyce Mumm in Burlington. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

Leo retired from Champion Spark Plug after 35 years of working production and Tool & Die. He then worked for Deery Brothers for 10 years driving the courtesy shuttle.

Leo was a member of the Burlington Gym. He took part in the Honor Flight to Washington DC and he was a St. Louis Cardinal Fan. Leo loved all sports and played baseball for many years. He loved his grandchildren and proudly supported his grandkids’ sports and school activities.

Survivors include his wife Joyce of Burlington; children Kevin Timberlake of Viola, Ill., Kyle (Beverly) Timberlake of Salem, Ind., Krista (Marty) Janik of Burlington, Tim Timberlake of Burlington, and Darrin (Christine) Timberlake of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister Shirley Johnson of Des Moines, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Samuel “Billy” Timberlake and Gerald Timberlake.

Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

The memorial visitation for Mr. Timberlake will be 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 8 at Lunning Chapel. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established for Every Step Hospice.
