Linda Kay Lowe Tansey, 77, of Winona, Miss., died the evening of Jan. 17, 2022, at the home of her grandson in Winona, Miss.
Linda was born March 8, 1944, in Burlington to Gerald W. and Violet N. Stouthammer Lowe. She married Michael D. Tansey on July 22, 1964. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1962.
Linda worked at Benner's in the meat department after graduation. After her marriage to Mike and the birth of their only daughter, Michelle, they lived in Burlington, Monmouth and Galesburg. They returned to Burlington for a short time, then moved to Winona, Miss. in 1980 for Mike's job. In Galesburg, Linda worked for a bank. While living in Winona, Linda worked as a supervisor at Garan Incorporated. She later worked at KFC before retiring.
Linda's final years were spent living with her grandson, Michael, and his family, as her health had declined. Her life revolved around caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were her world, and she would do anything for them. Over the years Linda enjoyed reading, watching TV, sewing, shopping, and taking family vacations. She loved spending time with family and friends. She was a deeply devoted Christian and enjoyed being involved with her church. Linda was a friend
to all and would do anything to help out her family and friends in any way she could.
Survivors include her grandson, Michael Oswalt and granddaughter, Shelby Wiggins of Winona, Miss.; sisters, Barbara (Tim) Balbort of Burlington and Joyce (Bill) Hilbrick of Decatur, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Addison and Harley Oswalt and Destinee, Isabella, and Cordlee Wiggins of Winona, Miss. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews in Iowa and Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike, and daughter Michelle Oswalt, her brother Ronnie Lowe, and several aunts, uncles, and in-laws.
Cremation was handled by Skeeter Robinson Funeral Home in Grenada,
Miss. Funeral services are scheduled to be held at New Hope Church in Winona, Miss. A memorial for New Hope Church has been established.
