Susan Annette Mullins, 60, of Burlington, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, at St. Francis OSF Hospital in Peoria, Ill.

Born March 10, 1964, in Chester, S. C., she was the daughter of Charles “Jim” and Leona Byars.

Susan worked for several years in management with convenience stores. She was of the Christian faith and attended First Presbyterian Church in her youth.

She was strong-willed, strong minded and was passionate. She was always caring and loving towards others. She enjoyed crocheting and one of her favorite things to do was to spend time in the country and outdoors.

She is survived by her daughter; Candace Everett Orth of Mediapolis; three grandchildren, Abbigail, Jacob and Holly; her mother, Leona Byars of Burlington; brother Mike Byars and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father and sister Michelle Richards.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9 at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends. A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m.

According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
