Rosie Fern York, 86, of Burlington, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at her home.
Born, Dec. 8, 1936, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Ray Charles and Constance Velma Marsh Southerland.
Rosie married John L. York on June 20, 1953, in Burlington. He died March 19, 1994. She was a homemaker.
Rosie was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and going to 34 Raceways wearing her bright orange hat! She loved being a wife, mom, and grandma. She was very family oriented. She enjoyed helping with various non-profit organizations such as Muscular Dystrophy Association, Wounded Warriors, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and Diabetes Foundation.
Survivors include her children Robert L. York of Burlington, John (Pam) York of St. Paul, and Timothy (Sonia) York of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Dustin York, two brothers, and five sisters.
The funeral service for Rosie will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23 at Lunning Chapel with pastor Dean Graber officiating. Interment will be at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials have been established for Muscular Dystrophy Association and Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.
