Dorothy Elizabeth Buhmeyer, 97, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021 at Klein Center.
Born July 12, 1924, in rural Mediapolis, she was the daughter of Charles Benjamin & Martha Elizabeth Glenn Bailey.
On Oct. 13, 1950, Dorothy married Carl Buhmeyer in St. Charles, Mo. He died April 2, 1970.
Dorothy graduated from Huron High School in 1941 and attended the College of Commerce Burlington Business School. For over 40 years, she was the secretary for St John’s Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Cemetery.
She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and sang in the church choir. Dorothy volunteered with Birthright, St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, and sang with Bel Canto.
Survivors include son, Charles Buhmeyer of Burlington; daughter, Beth Brown of Burlington; sister, Mary Ann Frank of Burlington; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
There will be a Rosary beginning at 4:30 p.m. with family visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26 at Lunning Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be at St. John’s Catholic Church on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 1:00 p.m. Father James Flattery will officiate. Interment will be at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.
