Daniel Patrick Boyle, 86, of West Burlington, died Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born September 8, 1939, in Burlington, he was the son of Patrick Stanley and Dorothy Juliann Schmieg Boyle. On April 23, 1960, he married Joanne Louise Ertz at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Burlington. 

He graduated from Burlington Catholic High School in 1957. Dan retired from Exide Battery in 2000. He will be remembered as a hard worker, a good husband and father who loved his family and was very proud of them. Dan especially loved hearing news of his family through social media.

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and the Knights of Columbus. Dan loved coaching little league when his kids were younger and enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on the river fishing and boating for over 40 years. He was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Joanne Louise Boyle of West Burlington; three sons, Brian (Sheril) Boyle of Burlington, Michael (Barbara) Boyle of Montezuma, IA, Tim (Kathy) Boyle of Oskaloosa, IA; daughter-in-law, Deanna Boyle of Denmark, IA; nine grandchildren, Danielle Miller, Andy Boyle, Brad Boyle, Brandon Boyle, Shalena Boyle, Dylan Boyle, Mallory Boyle, Taylor Shahan and TJ Boyle; 19 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dennis Boyle of Burlington, Steve Boyle of Burlington, David (Linda) Boyle of Wasilla, AK; and sister, Linda Boyle of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Barbara Reeb, son, Bernie Boyle, and great-grandchild, Kyaire Pryor.

Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington.

The Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Boyle will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington, with Fr. Jake Greiner as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the SS. Mary and Patrick Church Hall following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for St. Vincent de Paul and Divine Mercy Parish.
