Sharon M. Taeger, 82, of rural Burlington, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023.
Sharon was born at home in rural Media, Ill. on Aug. 11, 1941, to Kenneth Zang and Lillian Brown Zang.
Sharon graduated in 1959 from Kirkwood Illinois High School. She married Robert “Bud” Taeger on July 24, 1960. They had one son, Todd.
She worked in the office of the Winegard Co. as a bookkeeper for six years and from 1968-2004 she worked at all phases of the Pzazz complex-the last one being Barracudas. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Big Muddy’s for ten years and for Zaiser Fab for about six years.
She loved motocross racing, as her son raced, and she was a sprint care fan. Her son raced a car they owned. She was a NASCAR fan. Kyle Busch was her favorite driver and NHRA Drags-Jake Force. She was a big sports fan and she had SCC Blackhawk Basketball season tickets for 52 years. She loved college football and basketball.
Sharon loved all her animals, which all preceded her in death, horses and dogs.
Sharon was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, brother, husband of 49 years “Bud” in 2009, and son Todd in 2012.
She is survived by grandson Alec; great-granddaughter Laila; and special niece Deb Winters and other nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
The celebration of life service will be 1 to 4 p.m. at the Moose Lodge on Dec. 17, 2023.
A memorial has been established for Laila’s education.
