Warren Dwight Johnson, Jr., 84, of Burlington, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Aug. 10, 1937, in Burlington, he was the son of Warren Oscar and Rainey Isabel Stevenson Johnson. On Dec. 8, 1955, he married Sharon Lee Dickson. She died Dec. 29, 2011, after 56 years of marriage.
He began work for the Murray Iron Works and continued working for the company throughout the many ownership changes until his retirement from Siemens.
Warren was a member of the First Christian Church, Empty Nesters Club and an Elder Emeritus for the church. He was also involved with the Historical Society in Burlington and a member of Class of '55.
Survivors include his son, Joel Johnson of Burlington; daughter, Kathy L. Miller of East Peoria, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Wayne Johnson and Wally Johnson.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, where the family will receive friends at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Due to rising concerns with Covid-19, the family kindly asks those who plan to attend the services to please wear a mask or face covering.
The funeral service for Mr. Johnson will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with the Rev. David J. Yonker and the Rev. Brooke Anthony officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the Fellowship Hall at First Christian Church following the service. Burial will follow at Aspen Grove Cemetery. The funeral service will be live streamed on the church website at https://burlingtondoc.org/.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
