Robert Gary Farris, 83, of Burlington, died Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, West Burlington.
He was born June 17, 1939, at Blandinsville, Ill., a son of Clarence G. and Sylvia E. Bundy Farris.
He worked at the American Ordnance Plant for 15 years, Montgomery Ward for ten years, J.I Case, and Interiors Inc. He enjoyed auctions, dancing, singing and telling stories. He also loved camping, collecting elephants, and Volkswagen Bugs. Robert enjoyed being an elder, Sunday school teacher and song leader in the early days of West Burlington Christian Church.
He is survived by his children: Teresa "Teri" Farris-Critten, of West Burlington; Toni Kirk, of Kansas City, Mo., and Robert "Todd" Farris, of Burlington; seven grandchildren: Shawna, Scott, Shelby, Danielle, Ashley, Jeffrey, and Abigail; seven great-grandchildren: Jillian, Ariana, Aeric, Alexander, Jace, Conor and Brennan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Jeffrey C., infant daughter Joni L. Farris, and three siblings, Kenneth, Kathryn and Margaret.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life to be held on Sunday, May 14, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fort Madison Christian Church, 1029 48th St. Fort Madison. Burial will take place at a later time at the Glade City Cemetery, Blandinsville, Ill. A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
