Mary P. Marshall, 88, of Burlington, died Saturday, May 5, 2023, at her daughter’s home.

Born June 6, 1934, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Carl and Ruby Sutcliffe Schultz. She married Donald Marshall on Aug. 18, 1951. He died in 2008.

Mary was a waitress at the former Holiday Inn hotel in Burlington for over 30 years until her retirement in 1999.

She was of the Catholic faith. She was a HUGE Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She was a social butterfly.

She is survived by her two children; John Marshall and Cindy Loyd, both of Burlington; her son Kevin’s longtime companion Shelly Wendt of Nebraska; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Kevin Marshall, grandson Louis Loyd, daughter-in-law Sherry Metzger, son-in-law Louis “Louie” Loyd, four brothers and one sister.

The memorial funeral service for Mary will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 8 at Lunning Chapel. Pastor Dean Graber will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of services. A time of food and fellowship will be held following the memorial service at the Burlington Gym.

According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
