Mercedes “Sadie” Young, 28, of Burlington, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at Birkwood Village in Fort Madison. Born Dec. 17, 1996, in Keokuk, she was the daughter of Michael Stephenson and Jenean Wyatt Brockett, and Opie Brockett. She married Ryan Young on April 22, 2018.
Sadie was a very loving and caring person who had a heart of gold. She was a true fighter! She enjoyed hanging out with her friends and family and spending time on social media scrolling through Facebook and Tik Toks.
She will be truly missed by her true love Ryan Young; her mother Janean Brockett (Eric Jorgensen); father Michael Stepheson; stepfather Opie Brockett; her fur babies, Zoey, Princess and Blessing; her stepsons, Travis Young and Tyler Young whom she adored; her brothers Austin Brockett, Dale Brockett and Paul Brockett; her paternal grandfather Marion Stephenson and a slew of friends.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Dale and Joyce Wyatt, paternal grandmother Judy Stephenson, brother-in-law Christopher Young, father-in-law James Poland and other family members.
A memorial funeral service will be held. Burial will be held in Hickory Cemetery, Keokuk, Iowa.
Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
