Sondra Marie Astfalk, 77, of West Burlington, died at 5:30 PM Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
Born June 3, 1944, in Ottumwa, IA, she was the daughter of Oris Reed and Velma Marie Randolph Dillener. On December 17, 1966, she married William Milton Astfalk in St. Paul's Catholic Church.
Sondra loved working with children and owned her own Preschool for eight years. She also enjoyed helping her friend at Vickie's Country Thyme for 21 years.
Sondra read her Bible every day. She enjoyed antiques and liked the outdoors, especially watching the birds and squirrels. Her favorite role was being a grandmother making sure they had a handwritten letter every Friday. Sondra will be remembered her friendly smile, selfless, compassionate and always putting others before herself.
Survivors include her husband, William Astfalk of West Burlington; two daughters, Christina (Chad) Hardy of Richfield, MN, and Suzanne Reed Todd of West Burlington; five grandchildren, Taylor (Jack Barta) Hardy, Emma Todd, Maggie Hardy, Rylie Todd, and Ethan Todd.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lance Dillener.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Astfalk will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 18, 2022, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home with Rev. James Flattery officiating.
A memorial has been established.
