David Mitchell Oliver, 60, of Danville, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2022, at his home.

Born Jan. 11, 1962, in Burlington, he was the son of Glen Dale and Mary Lou Harris Oliver. On Oct. 16, 1982, he married Mallory Dawn Janes in Burlington.

After high school, David started working for Burlington Medical Center in the dietary department. He was promoted to transportation and would transport meals from BMC to Kleins. He later worked for Chief Bus Service driving and repairing buses at both Burlington and Des Moines locations. He met many people during his time driving and had many stories about their trips. In his later years, David drove semis for many different companies until his retirement.

David was ornery and always had a story to tell, which he told many times. He enjoyed the outdoors; raising chickens and other livestock, target shooting, and hunting, especially pheasant. He was a former sheep committee member for 4-H and an FFA Advisor for many years. He was very opinionated about his political views and wasn't shy to voice them. David liked to go for drives and was a walking road map because he always knew the best routes. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan and watched or listened to every game. Most of all, David enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Mallory of Danville; two sons, Chance (Laken) Oliver of Arvada, Co. and Travis (Lindsay) Oliver of West Burlington; granddaughter, Evelynn Rose Oliver; granddog, Stella Oliver; three siblings, M. Pamela (Ben) Johnson of Winfield, Marketa Sue (Ernest) George Oliver of Bondurant, and Jonathan (Dawn) Oliver of Martinsburg; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Samuel Oliver, and infant twin siblings.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The memorial service for Mr. Oliver was 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St., with Pastor Dean Graber officiating.

Memorials have been established for Special Needs Foundation and 4-H Programs.
