Clarence I. Norton, 94, of Burlington, Iowa, died Friday, January 16, 2026, at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Mediapolis, Iowa.

Born on November 24, 1931, in Crawfordsville, Iowa, he was the son of Charles F. and Gertrude I. (Buck) Norton. On September 4, 1953, he married Ruby Brockett. She preceded him in death on September 22, 2007.

Clarence worked at Leopold Desk Company for 25 years and then worked at Heils Ice Company. He was member of the First Assembly of God Church in Burlington. In Clarence’s early years he lived in Colorado and loved taking friends and family on trail rides. His love for being outdoors continued throughout life enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved to attend auctions and was known to be #25. You knew if #25 was called it was sure to be Clarence. This might be news to some, but he was the biggest prankster and was ornery. Most of all he loved being with his family. His kindness and silly wit will be missed by many.

He is survived by two sons: Ken (Cheryl) Norton of New London, and Roy (Terri) Norton of Burlington; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way; one brother Melvin (Christy) Norton of Utah and one sister Pearl Moser of Arizona. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruby, daughter Sandy, three brothers: Don, Charles, and Dale Norton and two sisters: Ruby Norton Bartholow Donohoe and Opal Beanblossom.

The funeral service for Clarence will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Don Crawford officiating. A one-hour visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2026, where the family will meet with friends. Interment will be held in the Burlington Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A memorial has been established in his memory for Hope Haven a Division of Imagine the Possibilities and the University of Iowa Pediatric Cancer Center.
