Larry Smith, 62, of Burlington, died Sunday, March 12, 2023, at his home.

Born July 24, 1961, in Burlington, he was the son of Ralph and Joy Davis Smith.

He was a 1979 graduate of Burlington High School. He worked as a printing pressman for McKay Envelope for 18 years.

He was of the Methodist faith. He loved his animals, especially his dog Pearl and his cat Abe and enjoyed thrift shopping and antiquing.

He is survived by his three children; Ryan Allen (Wesley Nicholson) of Burlington, Brayden (Jessica) Smith of Lebanon, Tenn. and Stacia (Junior) Houge of Mediapolis; five grandchildren, Aneah Houge, Makenna Houge, Paislee Houge, Raegan Houge and Autumn Smith and one sister Connie Smith of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his lifelong companion Melody Nees, and one sister.

The graveside funeral service and inurnment for Mr. Smith will be 4 p.m. Friday, March 17 at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Sam Fratt will officiate.

Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society and St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
