Allen "Al" Fuqua, 69, of Burlington, died peacefully at his home on Friday, November 18, 2022, after an 11-month battle with brain cancer.

Born on December 28, 1952, in Sikeston, Mo., he was the son of Hugh and Lillie Eldridge Fuqua. On July 12, 1975, he married Jill M. Lindbeck in Cambridge, Ill.

He attended Geneseo High School in Geneseo, Ill. graduating in 1972. After graduation, Al attended York College in York Nebraska.

Al worked for J.I. Case for 36 years. After retiring from Case, he worked for the Burlington Parks Department for 10 years. He loved spending time with his family.  Al coached his kids' sports teams and liked following Grayhound athletics, and officiating swim meets. He was a member of the chain gang crew and scorekeeper for various sports. Al was very proud of being part of the Geneseo High School football 52-game winning streak.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years; son, Shane (Kim) Fuqua of Iowa City; daughter, Megan (Brayden) Bergren of Mediapolis; one grandchild, Hannah Fuqua; mother, Lillie Fuqua of Geneseo, Ill.; brother, Marty (Chris) Fuqua of St. Augustine, Fla; one sister, Gina (Dan) Pearson of Geneseo, Ill., and many nieces and nephews who were all special to him.

He was preceded in death by his father and infant sister Amy.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7 p.m., Friday, November 25, at Prugh Funeral Service 3940 Division Street, Burlington.

The funeral service for Mr. Fuqua will be Saturday, November 26, at 10 a.m. with Elder Mike Alberts. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the service.

The Graveside Committal Service for Mr. Fuqua will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 26, Rosedale Cemetery in Cambridge, Ill.

Memorials have been established for the Burlington Parks Department and Burlington Church of Christ.
