Marvin “Roy” Lansing Jr, 58, of Burlington, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital after a 20-year battle with severe health conditions. Born, June 3, 1965, in Centerville, Ill., he was the son of Marvin Roy and Margaret Schaefer Lansing Sr. Roy was of the Catholic faith.

He graduated from Assumption High School in Washington Park, Ill. in 1983. He attended Belleville Area Community College after graduation. He worked for Crescent Electric Supply Company which moved him to Iowa in 1995 as the branch manager in Burlington. He also worked part-time for the Des Moines County Sheriff's Department. He loved working in law enforcement.

On Nov. 4, 1989, he married Betty French Lansing. They just celebrated 34 years of marriage.

Roy was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan and Duke basketball fan. He enjoyed watching both on TV. His best moments were spent with his two boys and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Betty of 34 years; two sons Ryan James Lansing and Tyler Joseph (Allison) Lansing; one granddaughter Natalie Lansing; one grandson Brodie Lansing; one brother James (Jeanine) Lansing; two sisters-in-law Bonnie (Gary) Rohr and Barbara (Robert) Pfeiffer and many nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson Carter Joseph Lansing.

Per Roy’s wishes, no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
