Ingeborg “Ing” Louise Zaiser, 98, of Burlington, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born June 4, 1925 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Carl A. and Auguste Mangl Kalkbrenner.
Ing graduated from Burlington High School and Burlington College of Commerce, Secretarial. On Sept. 27, 1947, she married Mark F. “Mike” Zaiser at St. Paul United Church of Christ. He died Jan. 21, 2006.
Ing worked for Northwest Bell and was a teacher’s aide at Washington School. Her primary focus was being a homemaker for her family. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Ing was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in West Burlington. She was involved with women’s fellowship and teaching Sunday School. She was a seamstress and was a member of the Happy Go Lucky Sewing Club and formerly involved with the fireman auxiliary. She was very political minded and worked many years at the polls. She was involved in boy scouts and girl scouts. She was a grandmother to all, not just her own. Ing enjoyed spending time with family, going on mystery trips and kept in touch with her family in Germany and was lucky enough to visit. She had friends of all ages! Enjoyed sending notes and cards, and making loving phone calls.
Survivors include her children Annette Vincent, Danny (Dawn) Zaiser and Victoria (Dusty) Thye all of Burlington; grandchildren Bill, Mindy, Riley, Trey, Briar, Andrew, Hannah, Brody, Bryan, Staci and Shannon; fourteen great grandchildren and two on the way and one niece and several nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Mike and brother Carl Kalkbrenner, sister Rosemary Scarff.
The funeral for Ing will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2024 at Lunning Chapel with Reverend Ned Fry officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for St. Paul United Church of Christ.
