Mr. James A. Brown, 80, of Fort Madison, passed away at 2:24 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, at his home. He was born June 9, 1944, in Downey, Calif., the son of Victor and Beverly Miller Brown. On Jan. 2, 1993, he married Vera Crupper in Washington, Iowa.
Mr. Brown was a graduate of Burlington High School and Southeastern Community College. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Champion Spark Plug in Burlington and was a member of the UAW Local 1237, where he held many appointed and elected offices. James loved to golf at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course and spent the winters with his wife in Alabama. He is survived by his wife, Vera, three sons, Alan of Little Rock, Arkansas, Rick of Mims, Florida, and Sean of Orange City, Iowa, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Teresa and Lora. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one great-grandson.
