Betty L. Johnson, 94, of Burlington, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2024 at her home. 

Born March 30, 1930, in Ottumwa, she was the daughter of Winter Raymond and Edna Noland Lippert. On Sept. 15, 1950, she married Frank Johnson.

She was a graduate of Unionville High School. 

Betty was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 20 years. 

She was a member of West Avenue Church for most of her life. Betty loved her family and spent a great deal of time caring for them, including not beginning her career until her children were raised. She especially loved attending her children's and grandchildren's activities. She and Frank had a hobby farm which she enjoyed tending as well. 

Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Frank Johnson; three sons, Pastor Ron (Cindy) Johnson of Fort Myers, Fla., Tim (Suzie) Johnson of Burlington, and John (Bethanie) Johnson of Columbia, S.C.; three daughters, Becky (Kevin) Scheid of Andover, MN, Bonnie (Bob) Muzio of Montague, Mich., and Chris (Mike) Werner of Burlington; 23 grandchildren: Jesse Scheid, Christy Scheid, Kathryn Hills, Amy Scerbo, Stephen Johnson, Ashleigh Andrade, Emily Valentine, Brooke Cudney, Bethann Muzio, Dustin Werner, TJ Werner, Kyle Werner, Brett Werner, John Werner, Abigail Goble, Michaela Fortner, Lydia Johnson, and Seth Johnson; 34 great-grandchildren; and sister, Judy Hinesley of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dwight and Joe Lippert. 

The funeral service for Betty will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2024, at West Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Johnson officiating.  Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.  

A memorial has been established for West Avenue Baptist Church.
