Clayton J. “Jim” Gohn

Clayton J. “Jim” Gohn, 77, of Middletown, died Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born on January 12, 1949, in Leon, Iowa, he was the son of Carl and Betty Judd Gohn. He married Bess Holmes, and of that union they had one son together. They later divorced.

Jim was a United States Army veteran, and served two tours in the Vietnam war. He worked as a truck driver for several different trucking companies in the local area. In his free time, he enjoyed camping, fishing and watching a good Western movie or television show. Most of all Jim loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by five children: Clayton Gohn, Philip Pugliese, David Pugliese, Jesse McCabe and Brett McCabe; several grandchildren; two siblings: Sherry (John) Brown and Mervin (Lori) Gohn and a brother in-law Wally Wallingford. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Beverly Schuber, Sandy Warth, and Ruthie Wallingford.

Per his wishes cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel.

A private family graveside service will be held in the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk.
