Constance “Connie” McCollum, 98, of Burlington, died Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Klein Center in West Burlington. Born October 12, 1927, in Granger, Missouri, she was the daughter of Ira B. and Bertha Gertrude Cooper.

She married Cecil “Wayne” McCollum on September 15, 1945.  He preceded her in death on September 6, 2017.

Connie was a homemaker when Jerry was young then she worked for Champions for 16 years & then Rutherford’s for 4 years.

She was a member of First Christian Church ~ Disciples of Christ. 

She loved quality time with her family, travel, joke around & playful tease with her grandkids,  bingo, quarter slots, shopping, needle point, dining & visiting friends at Wendy’s & Napoli’s Pizza.

She is survived by her daughter in law; Barbara McCollum; grandchildren, Bobbie (Tom) Cobb, Chad (Dilphia) McCollum, Kimberly (Marty) Taeger and Kelli (Nick) MacGregor; great grandchildren, Joshua Haworth, Brittany (Tripp) King, Tyler Cobb, Brittany (Gage) Grissom, Ashley McCollum, Dilynn Taeger, Madison Taeger and Camden Carlson; great-great grandchild, Avery Burke; brother Ronnie (Betty) Cooper and oodles of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jerry McCollum and eight brothers and sisters, two in infancy.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  

Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
