Kimberly Kay “Kim” Bush, 66, of Burlington, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington. Born July 2, 1958, in Houston, Texas, she was the daughter of Dean “Red” and Marion Airhood Hartsock. On May 26, 1978, she married Michael W. Bush in Burlington.
Kim graduated from Burlington High School in 1976, S.C.C., Iowa Wesleyan College, and received her Master’s degree from Western Illinois University graduating Summa Cum Laude. She was an Elementary Educator for 30 years retiring from the Burlington Community School System.
In her earlier adult years, she was involved in PTO, PTA and was a BCSD Union Officer. She loved shopping, traveling with Mike, their trips to the Caribbean and also to Japan. Kim loved gardening and especially socializing with friends. She loved to ride the Road King with Mike.
Survivors include her husband; Michael W. Bush of Burlington, her son Michael A. (Heather) Bush and their children; Michael and Alexander of Chapin, SC; daughter, Kristen (Eric) Durbin and their children, Broden, Brantley, Brooks, and Brynilen of Havelock, NC; step grandchildren, twins Tia (Shane) Cavanaugh and Anna (George) Coursey of Indiana; sisters, Kylene (Dan) Tillotson and Kambra McAlister of Burlington; eight nieces and eleven nephews; sister and brothers-in-law, Vikki Christy of NC, Kathy (Larry) Utt of Indiana, Steve (Joy) Bush of Arizona and Cris Glasgow of Burlington.
Kim was preceded in death by her; parents, in- laws, brothers-in-law; Mike Christy, Craig Glasgow, Doug Bush; sister-in-law, Cindi Bush of New Hampshire; and nephew Zachary Tillotson.
According to Kim’s wishes there will be no services and cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
