Michael Henry Neumann, 54, of Burlington, died Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. Following his passing, Michael was able to give the gift of life through organ donation.
Born Feb. 18, 1971, in Fort Dodge, he was the son of Harlan and Claudia Chipman Neumann. On July 20, 2002, he married Jennifer Swamberger in Cedar Falls.
He graduated high school in Manson, Iowa and then earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Northern Iowa. Michael had worked for Sherwood Company since 2004.
He was a gifted artist who found joy in creating, whether through his artwork or strumming his guitar. Some of his favorite moments were the simple ones - sitting back with a good cup of coffee, listening to music or a podcast, or heading out for a ride on his motorcycle. Michael loved spending time doing anything with his family, especially playing catch with his son and practicing baseball or watching his daughter practice dance routines and cheers. Over time, he even became a proud Chicago Cubs fan. He loved nothing more than sharing “adventures” with his family, whether it was a big road trip or just piling in the car to see where the day would take them. He never met a stranger, always quick to spark a conversation and make a new friend.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jennifer Neumann of Burlington; children, Grace and Leo Neumann; mother, Claudia Neumann of Manson, Iowa; sisters, Connie (Rick) Nelson of Humboldt, Iowa, Christine (Ron) Jesse of Manson, and Jody VanDyke of Manson; brother, Scott Neumann of Cherokee; mother and father-in-law, Ed and Jeanne Swamberger; sisters-in-law, Sue (Mark) Mickelson, Barb (Steve) Cramer; brother-in-law, Tim (Leasa) Swamberger; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
