Randall Dean "Crapaw" Smith, 69, of Fort Madison, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2023, at his home.
Born Aug.15, 1953, in Burlington, he was the son of Weldon Eugene and Doris Jeanette Werner Smith. On May 26, 1978, he married Diana Lynn Rice in Burlington.
He attended Burlington Community High School.
Randall worked for Modern Welding for 42 years.
Randall was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, boating, and fishing at their cabin near Oakville. He enjoyed restoring old vehicles and watching old shows. He enjoyed watching Mary Tyler Moore, Andy Griffith, and Gunsmoke. He knew which channel and when to turn to it to catch one of the episodes. Whenever The Ten Commandments movie came on, he had to watch it. Randall loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, ordering pizza, and sitting around the fire pit. He was fondly called "crapaw" by his grandkids, which he was very proud of.
Survivors include wife, Diana Lynn Smith of Burlington; two daughters, Stephanie (Mathew) Kinneer of Burlington and Shayna (Jesse) Smith of Fort Madison; six grandchildren, Malena and Claytin Kinneer, Randall, Laila, Harper, and Amelio Smith; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Steven and Ronnie Smith.
Visitation will be from 11 to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St.
The celebration of life for Mr. Smith will follow the visitation, Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at Doris' Tavern.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory following the service.
Memorials have been established for Lee County Hospice and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
