Rick “Duster” Cook, 69, of Burlington, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023, at his home.

Born Aug. 29, 1953, in Burlington,  he was the son of Edward and Violet Wirt Cook. He married Joanne Siefken on April 23, 1971, in Kahoka, Mo.

He served in the National Guard for four years. He was a truck driver for Wal-Mart for 28 years until his retirement in 2019.

He was a member of American Legion Post #1176 in Biggsville, Ill. He enjoyed camping, yard work, tinkering in his garage, woodworking, B.S.’ing with his work buddies, and spending time with his family, his grandkids, and especially his dog Maddie.

He is survived by his wife Joanne Cook of Burlington; two daughters, Jessica Byerly and Amanda (Andy) Hocking both of Burlington; three grandchildren, Gauge Gorrell, Emylea Hocking, and Shyann Hocking; three granddogs Lizzie, Leah, and Sophie and niece Denise McGee of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Joyce Starkey.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at Lunning Chapel.

Memorials have been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice and American Legion Post #1176, Biggsville, Ill.
