Eugene William Krogmeier, 77, of Danville, died Thursday, April 13, 2023, at his home.
Gene was born in Burlington on February 5, 1946, the son of Albert Joseph and Darlene Hester Krogmeier. He was a 1965 graduate of Burlington High School. On August 14, 1965, he married Nancy Sue Gray in Burlington and he was very proud that they had been married for 57 years. He had worked at the Danville Elevator for 35 years, through numerous owners, and also had been farming for 55 years.
Gene was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Burlington and a member of the Geode Houndsman Club. He enjoyed baling hay, coon and coyote hunting, his Danville morning coffee club, and most of all, his family.
Gene is survived by his wife of Danville; daughters, Julie (John) Robinson of Chicago, and Shelly (Chris) Mortensen of Dwight, Ill.; sons, Richard (Amy) Krogmeier of Burlington, Ryan (Ami) Krogmeier of Webster City; brothers, Gary (Dale) Krogmeier of New London, Ed Krogmeier of Burlington; sisters, Sharon (Terry) Wiley and Cindy (Wayne) Bowen, both of Burlington; grandchildren, Blake (Lindsey) Clark, Bryce (Jenna) Mortensen, Reece Mortensen, Gabe, Mason and Avery Krogmeier; many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Georgia McCollum and brother Danny Krogmeier.
According to his wishes, Gene has been cremated and a private family inurnment in Jaggar Cemetery, Danville will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established for the Danville Fire and Rescue.
