Margaret E. Murders, 75 of West Burlington, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Born on March 11, 1949, in Waterloo, she was the daughter of Gordon and Phyllis Haberstich Watters. On Feb. 24, 1969, in Tulsa, Okla. she married A.V. Murders. He preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1996.
Margaret was a 1967 graduate of Denver High School and Southeastern Community College. For many years she worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. Margaret was an air show enthusiast and loved to see the Blue Angels. She volunteered for several years at the Quad Cities Air Show. In her free time she enjoyed making crafts and auto racing, especially watching her son Nathan at local dirt tracks. Most of all she loved being with her dog Hope.
She is survived by her two sons: Chris (Ann) Murders of Ely, Iowa and Nathan (April) Murders of Burlington, Iowa; five grandchildren: Ashley, Ava, Brenden, Shelby (Jacob) and Elaina; one great grandchild Blythe and two sisters: Elisa (Stephen) Necklason and Becky (Thomas) Wagner. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband A.V.
The funeral service for Margaret will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Simeon Counterman. A one-hour visitation will be held prior to the service at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, where the family will meet with friends. A private burial will be held in Rock Springs Cemetery.
