John Dudley Moyes, 77, of Burlington, died Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born December 12, 1948, in Fort Madison, he was the son of John and Evelyn (Cranberg) Moyes. Following the death of his father at a young age, his mother, Evelyn married Bill Thompson, who helped to raise him and whom John loved as a father. On October 30, 1977, he married Karen Ann Muntz in St. Petersburg, FL. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2013.
John worked as a baker and later as a supervisor for Aldi's/Mississippi Bakery.
He loved to go antiquing with his wife and spending as much time doing whatever she wanted to, it truly made him happy. He loved his grandchildren so much!
Survivors include three daughters, Lindee (Dave) Berry of Ottumwa, Kelley Smith of Bettendorf, and Lorie (Craig) Bray of Burlington; son, John Moyes of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Lucca Moyes, Jeslee Bray, Jestin Bray, Lee Rice, Kristina Scott, Stacia Reichelt and Madisen Smith; and seven great-grandchildren, Bella Rice, Sophie and June Scott, Adelyn and Eloise Reichelt, Michael Holliday and Berkeley Baker.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Patty Moore and Kaye Thompson.
There will be no visitation or services.
