Teresa Sue Kelly, 70, of Burlington, died Thursday, May 23, 2024, at her home.
Born December 11, 1953, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Robert James Hamilton Jr. and Joyce Ann Fry. She was a 1972 graduate of Burlington High School.
She married Ivan Kenneth Kelly Jr. on July 5, 1997. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2023.
Teresa worked as a phlebotomist for 34 years. She worked with MHI in Mt. Pleasant and for 27 years at Great River Medical Center. She retired in 2017.
She loved irises and had them planted all throughout her yard. She enjoyed riding with her husband on their Harley, crafting, puzzles, attending plant and tag sales and antiquing. Her kids and grandkids were truly her life and she cherished time spent with them. She was known to complain about family holidays, but deep down they knew she truly loved it.
Survivors include her two sons: Michael J. (Mindy) Shelledy and Jeff (Tina) Shelledy; six grandchildren, Taylor (Christopher) Stone, Asia Shelledy, Zachary Shelledy, Zander Shelledy, Bailey Shelledy and Mason Shelledy; great grandson Camdyn Stone; three sisters, Jennifer (Matt) Morrison, Mary (Doug) Means, and Lori (Joe) Canterbury; brother Dean (Barb) Hamilton; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and most importantly her fourth child, her fur baby Angelica.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter Peyton, sister Anna Lopez and her aunt and uncle who helped raise her, Kenneth and Lola Juhl.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
Burial will be held in Montrose Cemetery, Montrose, at a later date.
According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
