Letty L. Yocum, 88, of Burlington, died Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born Nov. 24, 1934, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Katherine “Pat” Harding Johnson.

Letty was a graduate of Burlington High School. On July 26, 1959, she married Dean Yocum in Burlington. He died June 16, 2017.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Letty worked at Apps Music Store and was a Switchboard Operator at IRC. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling to England, and loved a glass of wine. She loved all animals, especially her cat, Owen.

Survivors include her daughter Jennifer Day Yocum of Palatine, Ill., her amazing caregiver Lesa Muntz of Burlington, and her beloved cat Owen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dean.

According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. There will be no services at this time.

A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society or an animal shelter of your choice.
