Philip E. McKee, 51, of Burlington, died Thursday, April 24, 2025, at his home. Born on Dec. 23, 1973, in Burlington, he was the son of Jim and Becky Luers McKee.

Philip was a 1992 graduate of Burlington High School. He attended Southeastern Community College and Drake University where he graduated with honors and a bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science. He worked for Employee Benefit Systems (EBS) for over twenty-five years. Philip was a member of First Christian Church in Burlington. He loved cats and dogs, especially his niece puppy Clarabelle. A family friend recently shared that Philip was a very special young man but shy. He had a heart of gold, a kind spirit and a loving heart. There was nothing more special or more important to him than his family and job.

He is survived by his parents, sister Ruth Little all of Burlington, nephew Curtis Wanger, and other various nieces, nephews, aunt and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Per his wishes cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory for Des Moines County Animal Shelter.
